Blessings in a Backpack mobilizes communities, individuals and resources to provide food on the weekends for elementary school children across America who might otherwise go hungry. 13 million kids in America won’t have enough food to eat this weekend. That’s one in five kids who eat meals at school during the week but is without access to affordable, nutritious food on Saturday and Sunday. ColorMasters is proud to be a national corporate sponsor working to ensure the kids in your community are sent home on Fridays with backpacks full of satisfying and nutritional food.
Beads of Courage provides arts-in-medicine supportive care programs for children coping with serious illness, their families and the health care providers who care for them. The program is a resilience-based program designed to support and strengthen. Ongoing evaluation of the Beads of Courage program indicates that the program helps to decrease illness-related distress, increases the use of positive coping strategies, helps children find meaning in illness, and restores sense of self in children coping with serious illness. Throughout the program, children tell their story using colorful beads as meaningful symbols of courage that commemorate milestones they have achieved along their unique treatment path. It provides something tangible the child can use to tell about their experience during treatment and after. ColorMasters is excited to team up with Beads of Courage to provide support for cancer and blood disorders, cardiac conditions, burn injuries, neonatal ICU, and chronic illness.
The SummitThe Summit is a faith based 12-month residential intensive discipleship program for women struggling with life controlling problems located in Fort Payne, Alabama. Women at The Summit are afforded the opportunity to confront destructive choices, self-sabotaging behaviors, and unhealthy views through mentoring and education. ColorMasters is proud to work with The Summit to provide life skills to women who want and need a fresh start.
Kelley’s RainbowKelley’s Rainbow works to provide both direct and indirect services to victims of Domestic Violence in Cherokee, DeKalb, and Marshall Counties in Alabama. They provide victim advocacy, case management, counseling, shelter, and referral to area resources, as well as working to educate the community on domestic violence and its impact.
Little Free Libraries is an organization that works to improve literacy rates across the country and works with municipalities and schools to introduce literacy programs into their communities in their own unique way. ColorMasters is a proud local sponsor of the Little Free Library “take a book, return a book” free book exchange. We have worked with Albertville City Schools to sponsor a small wooden, dog house sized schoolhouse filled with books. The library has shingles, little windows, and big front door, allowing anyone in search of a good read to simply reach in and pick one up. We are excited to partner with Albertville City Schools to boost literacy by making books more accessible.
